  The Publix in Crystal River used to be the only game in town, now it is really falling apart, due to major competition from a new WalMart Superstore that opened in nearby Homosassa, and another new WalMart that will open this year very nearby to this store. There are now several competing grocery stores in the area that have better prices. As if competition wasn't bad enough, Publix has been in the process of changing its store design and has totally changed its layout. This week I went to this store several times and was shocked to find that within one 24 hour period a lot of common products were totally moved around, for the second time in one week. When I went to the store's fancy new customer service desk I asked where to find the eggs and was misdirected because the location had changed overnight. I went back to the service desk and told her where to find the eggs. On my most recent visit today I was looking for the ingredients for a special recipe and I finally had to resort to going to a competitor down the street where I knew the layout and was able to go right to what I wanted. In my opinion this store is on its way OUT because it is inconveniencing customers by making it hard to find anything and due to lower-priced competition.
